“The book describes a condition that I call “expanded dysthymia”, which is an expansion of the usual definition of mild, chronic depression and may describe a large fraction of the population, many of whom are not conventionally mentally ill. It is probably caused by non-mid-range Big Three strengths. Such people may be discontent with their lives and many continuously alter their lifestyle to find contentedness, which they never quite achieve. I think this describes many high achievers. Correcting the condition with The Adjustment may be analogous to correcting poor vision with eyeglasses. ” ---excerpt from a book summary I wrote for the Journal of Loss and Trauma, in press
